I wager you're beginning to truly get the hang of how to make an example presently, so we should take a stab at something else. Rather than beginning with a column of spots, we'll start with a wave to draw this example: 

Draw a wave: 

Over that wave, draw another wave: 

On the purpose of each top wave, draw a circle: 

In the middle of each circle, draw a circle: 

Underneath your base wave, draw a straight line:
Draw a progression of vertical lines interfacing the base wave and the straight line: 
Draw another straight line at the base: 

Draw a line of circles underneath the straight line: 

Cool! You're turning into a genuine champ at design making!

Since you realize how to make an example, you can make a wide range of examples off the highest point of your head.

Simply recall that an example is basically a reiteration of shapes, and to make complex examples, you simply go bit by bit, each shape in turn.

For motivation, take a gander at books that contain various examples, for example, Mayan, Japanese, Indian, African… each culture far and wide fuses its own arrangement of particular examples here and there or other - in their engineering, materials, fine art, and so on. Give them a chance to be a springboard for your very own special examples!
